ICLMS headteacher David Lee with Frontier Learning Trust CEO and Woodhouse Principal, Sugra Alibhai
Imperial College London Mathematics School (ICLMS) has moved into the next phase of development. ICLMS will be a specialist mathematics and science sixth form in partnership with Imperial College London, and will be part of Frontier Learning Trust (FLT), alongside Woodhouse College.
The new school is aimed at aspiring and enthusiastic mathematicians and scientists from all backgrounds. The aim of the school is to increase the pipeline of skilled mathematicians and scientists into STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) degrees at high-tariff universities, such as Imperial, and into STEM career pathways.
The Trust has appointed a headteacher, David Lee, who started in June. David has a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford, a master's degree in Mathematics from the Open University, and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Warwick. David joins us from Regent High School, after teaching in Camden schools for the past 10 years, having started his teaching career in Leicester.
ICLMS is currently running a public consultation which runs until 21 October. The autumn term will see a series of open evenings on 6 and 11 October. At the start of October, students will be able to apply for places to be part of the first cohort in September 2023.
ICLMS headteacher David said "It’s very exciting that Imperial College London Mathematics School is in its next phase. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the young people of North London, and I’m looking forward to meeting them and working with them in some of our upcoming events this year. I’m also very pleased to be working with Sugra Alibhai, FLT and Woodhouse College to deliver the very best education and opportunities to young people across North London and beyond."
FLT CEO and Woodhouse Principal Sugra Alibhai said "We are delighted to be entering the next chapter of opening the ICLMS. This opportunity will allow us to offer students a highly specialist curriculum in a small, close knit community. We are proud that Imperial College London chose to partner with Woodhouse College for this project and we look forward to welcoming the founding cohort in 2023!"
